Modi Jalvidyut Company Limited, a subsidiary of Nepal Electricity Authority, was established to develop the Upper Modi ‘A’ Hydroelectric Project (UMAHEP) with an installed capacity of 42 MW and the Upper Modi Hydroelectric Project (UMHEP) with an installed capacity of 18.2 MW. Both projects are located in the Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski District, about 250 kilometers westof Kathmandu, and are designed as a cascade development along the Modi River. UMAHEP is run-of-river scheme designed with a gross head of 286.8 m and net head of 274.66 m, the project delivers an installed capacity of 42 MW, generating an average annual energy output of 243.587 GWh.
